This morning I appeared on Maryland Morning with Sheilah Kast to talk about my bill to charge gas companies a $10 fee for each acre they lease for drilling for natural gas in western Maryland. This fee would go to fund the study done by the Marcellus Shale Safe Drilling Initiative, which will examine both the risks and the economic benefits to the region, and create a blueprint for how, when and who can have access to the state’s natural gas reserves.
