In an article published by the Humane Society of the United States, I was quoted as saying, “Sharks are a critical predator species in the ocean and maintain the health of the ecosystem. We must do all we can to protect this important species.” With the passing of S.B. 465, Maryland will join California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington in an effort to protect the oceans of the world from poaching and unlawful predation.
