Former Md. governor backs Frosh for attorney general

Harry Hughes, the Democratic governor of Maryland from 1979-87, is supporting Sen. Brian Frosh, D-Montgomery, in his attempt to become the next attorney general of the state.

In an email sent out by the Frosh campaign, Hughes asked supporters to donate to the Frosh campaign before the 2014 session starts Wednesday start.

“It is imperative that we help Brian now. There are only seven days left until the Jan. 8 deadline, when the 2014 Maryland legislative session begins. By law, as a Maryland legislator, Brian will be prohibited from accepting contributions during the upcoming legislative session that ends in April,” Hughes said, according to the email sent Jan. 2.

“As attorney general, we can count on Brian to preserve and protect our environment. I hope he can count on your support to become Maryland’s next attorney general,” he said.
