NEW YORK MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG ENDORSES BRIAN FROSH FOR MARYLAND ATTORNEY GENERAL

Bloomberg Calls Frosh a Courageous Advocate for Marylanders

New York, NY- Today, Mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed Senator Brian Frosh, who is running to be the next Attorney General of Maryland in the 2014 election.  In a statement, Mayor Bloomberg praised Frosh for his tireless efforts to reduce gun violence in the state of Maryland.

“Reducing gun violence in America is a moral and social imperative. No one has done more in Maryland than Brian Frosh to lead the fight against illegal guns and protect citizens from incidents of gun violence,” said New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Mayors Against Illegal Guns Co-Chair.

As Chairman of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, Senator Frosh was the key sponsor behind the enactment of Maryland's landmark Firearms Safety Act of 2013.  Particularly because of the fingerprinting licensing of handgun purchasers in this measure, this new law, which took effect on October 1, will make Maryland one of leading states in the nation on gun violence prevention.

“I’m honored to have Mayor Bloomberg’s support,” said Frosh. “His efforts to prevent gun violence have been an example for the nation, and we believe that Maryland’s new law will save thousands of lives.”
