MONTGOMERY COUNTY EXECUTIVE IKE LEGGETT AND
STATE SENATOR BRIAN FROSH EXCHANGE ENDORSEMENTS AT LEISURE WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE

Frosh cites Leggett as a principled leader who has steered Montgomery County well during tough economic times; Leggett calls Frosh “the most qualified candidate to be Attorney General and to make Maryland safer.”

Silver Spring – Today, both Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, who is running for reelection, and State Sen. Brian Frosh, running for Maryland Attorney General, announced at a joint press conference that they are endorsing each other for the Democratic primary to be held on June 24th.

Leggett emphasized Frosh’s exemplary record in Annapolis and urged all to support him for Attorney General, as someone with the experience, vision and character to be the state’s chief legal officer.

“Brian Frosh is the gold standard of public service,” Leggett said. “In his more than 28 years in the General Assembly, he has passed laws that make Maryland safer, increased environmental protections and consumer protections, and has made it easier for victims of domestic violence to get the protection they need from our courts. He is a qualified leader, who will make an excellent Attorney General.”

Frosh also spoke highly of Leggett’s leadership of Montgomery County during an extended period of economic hardship. “Ike is someone who had the courage and intelligence to make tough, decisive choices at the beginning of the recession,” Frosh said. “And because of those decisions, he has enabled our county to emerge stronger and recover sooner than surrounding jurisdictions. That is something we should all be grateful for and we should express our gratitude on June 24th.”

“I am so proud to stand here today in support of Ike Leggett,” Frosh said. “Ike Leggett gets real results for the county and our state. Just in the last two years, Ike played a pivotal role in helping to advance progressive values in Maryland, such as increasing the minimum wage, passing marriage equality and the Dream Act.”

Both Frosh and Leggett pledged to continue working together to continue the progress they have made together and to keep fighting for Maryland families.
