Bill Kennedy: Many choices in the upcoming election

Early voting in the primary election is scheduled to begin this week, so I figured that I might just as well weigh in on which candidates I think should get your vote in the races for the major offices of interest.

I used some simple rules for my choices: my desire to get rid of all of the incumbents, but that is a bit impractical in reality so choices must be made; consideration of previous experience in elective office, and the candidate’s successes or failures in that office; experience within government outside of elective office, and successes and failures in those positions; community service; and my perception of the candidate’s general personality.

For attorney general, Brian Frosh appears to have been successful as a state Senator, so he gets the Democratic nod. Aisha Braveboy is an unknown, and Jon Cardin couldn’t be bothered to attend his committee meetings, so his reliability is the question.

For whom you vote is up to you, but whether by early vote, absentee or on the regular election day, please do vote. Every vote counts, especially in the local races, since the margins of victory can be very small.
